Your Design Here Winner

On 22nd September, we called on artists and designers to create a face for our Primary clock for our latest competition ‘Your Design Here’, which finished on 22nd November. Over the last two months, we received a vast number of entries from 15 + countries and were overwhelmed with the level of creativity.

A simple, playful design with individuality was important to us when selecting the winner; ‘Glass Half Full’.

The winner of the Your Design Here competition is Jenna Virrankari, winning a bespoke Primary clock, handprinted with her design. Jenna’s ‘Glass Half Full’ entry showed a refreshing and effortless design, with a subtle personal message to it.

“It will remind me that there is more than one way of seeing things and I should remain optimistic”.

A recent graduate from Finland, Jenna studied Packaging Design and Graphics at Lahti Institute of Design, and is now interning at a design consultancy in Helsinki as well as working as a freelance graphic designer. Jenna describes her work as clear, functional design that creates a certain mood and tells the right story. Jenna also submitted a second design ‘Rays’, which combines a use of transparency and gradient colour tones to create a subtle clock design. Some of her work can be seen in her portfolio here.

We have a number of other favourites including Dessy Madanska’s overlay design of a combination of bold and faded geometric shapes, Alastair Hamer’s design with use of a rotated wood-grain effect, and also Jess Cacdac’s design in a post-modern Memphis style and designs from Mark Johnson and Hayley Potter. We loved the symmetrical graphic lines that create a lighthouse scene in Mark’s homely design, as well as the bold colour palettes that merge to create a paint-stroke effect in Hayley’s design.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in the competition! As the team discuss including bespoke designs from the competition in the ByCollection, make sure to keep updated on our blog for more info in the New Year!
